11 USING THE DISK IMAGES
12 =====================
13 If you wish to transfer the disk images to a 5.25" floppy disk for use
14 with a real CoCo, follow the steps below:
881
15
1008
16 WINDOWS/DOS:
17
18 1. Download and install the latest version of DSKINI/RETRIEVE as modified
19 by John Collyer at http://www.angelfire.com/oh5/johncollyer/coco/m6309.htm
20
21 2. Insert a blank 5.25" DS floppy in to your drive (we assume B:)
881
22
1008
23 3. Type the following command, replacing the name of the image:
24
25 DSKINI /T40 /D B: <diskimagefile>
26
27 Where <diskimagefile> is the image file you want to transfer to the
28 floppy disk. The image file transfer should start. When it is done,
29 take out the disk and try booting your CoCo with it.
30
31 Repeat steps 2-3 for each additional disk.
881
32
33
1008
34 LINUX:
35
36 1. Download and install the latest version of fdutils from
37 http://fdutils.linux.lu/
881
38
1008
39 2. Once installed, edit the /usr/local/etc/mediaprm file and add the
40 following lines at the end of the file:
41
42 "COCO360":
43 DS DD sect=18 cyl=40 ssize=256 tpi=48 fm=0 gap=8
44
45 3. Insert your blank floppy into the drive on your Linux box.
46
47 4. Type the following command:
881
48
1008
49 setfdprm /dev/fd1 coco360 (360K 5.25" floppy disk)
50
51 This assumes your floppy drive is /dev/fd1. You may need to make
52 adjustments to the above commands for your environment.
53
54 5. After typing the setfdprm command, the floppy drive unit should spin
55 for a second then stop. Type this command:
881
56
1008
57 dd if=<diskimagefile> of=/dev/fd1
881
58
1008
59 Where <diskimagefile> is the image file you want to transfer to the
60 floppy disk. The image file transfer should start. When it is done,
61 take out the disk and try booting your CoCo with it.
