1008 | 14 USING THE DISK IMAGES |
15 =====================
16 If you wish to transfer the disk images to a 5.25" floppy disk for use
17 with a real CoCo, follow the steps below:
881 | 18 |
1008 | 19 WINDOWS/DOS: |
20 | |
21 1. Download and install the latest version of DSKINI/RETRIEVE as modified
1436 | 22 by John Collyer at http://users.zoominternet.net/~johncollyer/m6309.htm |
1008 | 23 |
24 2. Insert a blank 5.25" DS floppy in to your drive (we assume B:)
881 | 25 |
1008 | 26 3. Type the following command, replacing the name of the image: |
27 | |
28 DSKINI /T40 /D B: <diskimagefile>
29 | |
30 Where <diskimagefile> is the image file you want to transfer to the
31 floppy disk. The image file transfer should start. When it is done,
32 take out the disk and try booting your CoCo with it.
33 | |
34 Repeat steps 2-3 for each additional disk.
881 | 35 |
36 | |
1008 | 37 LINUX: |
38 | |
39 1. Download and install the latest version of fdutils from
40 http://fdutils.linux.lu/
881 | 41 |
1008 | 42 2. Once installed, edit the /usr/local/etc/mediaprm file and add the |
43 following lines at the end of the file:
44 | |
45 "COCO360": | |
46 DS DD sect=18 cyl=40 ssize=256 tpi=48 fm=0 gap=8
47 | |
48 3. Insert your blank floppy into the drive on your Linux box.
49 | |
50 4. Type the following command:
881 | 51 |
1008 | 52 setfdprm /dev/fd1 coco360 (360K 5.25" floppy disk) |
53 | |
54 This assumes your floppy drive is /dev/fd1. You may need to make
55 adjustments to the above commands for your environment.
56 | |
57 5. After typing the setfdprm command, the floppy drive unit should spin
58 for a second then stop. Type this command:
881 | 59 |
1008 | 60 dd if=<diskimagefile> of=/dev/fd1 |
881 | 61 |
1008 | 62 Where <diskimagefile> is the image file you want to transfer to the |
63 floppy disk. The image file transfer should start. When it is done,
64 take out the disk and try booting your CoCo with it.
65 | |
66 Repeat steps 3-5 for each additional disk.
67 |
